“The tournament began last week, Wednesday 26, and we have managed to register 24 teams, although more teams were willing to compete, but we took the 24 for the two rounds,” Shafie Abdullahi Odowa, the tournament organiser, told The Eastleigh Voice.
Shafie noted that, compared to the last tournament, this edition has gained traction with more teams joining. He highlighted that the first round is a knockout stage designed to determine the 12 teams that will proceed to the next round.
“Those who want to play are many, but I have 24 teams which are playing knockout rounds that will run till March 9, then the second round will run from March 11,” Shafie said.
The teams are currently using the Eastleigh Primary field for the tournament, with hopes of playing at the new Desa Complex grounds in California Estate.
“The teams are currently playing at Eastleigh Primary, but we hope that we can play at the new turf of the Eastleigh California Desa grounds,” said Shafie.
